چکیده
* Several students in SAIL have contributed to, and benefited from, research activities at the SAIL laboratory at Tennessee Technological University. These include: (i) Thad Scalf, Joe Cherry and Karthigan Srinivasan: Naval Radar Simulation Project. (ii) Andrew Trent and William Holcomb: Self Organizing Software Entities Project. (iii) Matt Irwin, Noah Rosser, Derrick Muncy and : Home Automation Project. (iv) VijayAnand: Power Plant Distribution Visualization Project. Abstract: Software systems designed to be distributed, interactive and intelligent (in a domainspecific sense), with ubiquitous human interfaces and the ability to exhibit intelligent cooperative behaviors will pave the way for achieving realistic flexible automation systems. In specific, the research conducted through the VERAM (Virtual Environments for Robotics, Automation and Manufacturing) at the Software Automation and Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) at Tennessee Technological University, investigates the applicability of agent-based design techniques in the development of interactive software components designed as ICE (Intelligent Coordinating Entities) elements.

Adaptive Protection Based on Intelligent Distribution Networks with the Help of Network Factorization in the Presence of Distributed Generation Resources
Factorizing a system is one of the best ways to make a system intelligent. Factorizing the protection system, providing the right connecting agents, and transmitting the information faster and more reliably can improve the performance of a protection system and maintain system reliability against distributed generation resources. This study presents a new method for coordinating network protect...
متن کاملA Hierarchical Distributed Coiitrol Model for Coordinating Intelligent Systeiiis
This paper describes a hierarchical distributed control (HDC) model for coordinating cooperative problem-solving among intelligent systems. The model was implemented using SOCIAL, an innovative object-oriented tool for integrating heterogeneous, distributed software systems. SOCIAL embeds applications in “wrapper” objects called Agents, which supply predefined capabilities for distributed commu...
متن کاملIntelligent Agent Control Using Inductive, Deductive and Case Based Reasoning
The paper deals with the problem of intelligent system’s design for complex environments. A possibility to integrate several technologies into one basic structure that could form a kernel of an intelligent system or intelligent agent has been discussed. An alternative structure is proposed in order to form the basis of an intelligent system that would be able to operate in complex environments....

متن کاملDesign, Fabrication and Intelligent Control of the Gripper Based on SMA Actuators
This paper presents the designing, simulation, fabrication and control of a gripper actuated by Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wire. The presented gripper has the advantage of the small linear displacement of the slider connected to the SMA wire, and can convert the linear displacement into angular movement of the gripper fingers. In this study, design and simulation processes have been done by two p...
